ABOUT THE AUTHORS,
EMILY AND TODD SPECTOR

We are a husband and wife duo and founders of bethink™ a thought-provoking, yet in-tune, wellness company that sparks meaningful reflection in a variety of ways. We are on a mission to help people realize their potential by focusing on WithinWellness™, an approach based on the belief that wellness always comes from within.

The idea for our story began as a conversation with our three and five-year-old daughters. We quickly realized that the story we truly were writing was our own. Todd’s story reminds his five-year-old self that he isn’t responsible for other people’s thoughts and feelings while exploring the power in uncovering his own voice. Emily’s story reminds her five-year-old self that she will only achieve her true potential when she starts being her biggest cheerleader instead of her loudest critic. This book serves as an anthem to ourselves, loudly declaring, “First, find your voice, and then be brave enough to use it!”

This is the first book in our intended series. We are committed to becoming our best selves and hope to inspire others along the way. Thank you for being on this journey with us. We appreciate your willingness to tackle these sometimes daunting lessons.

JOIN THE COMMUNITY

As parents to two young girls, we’ve spent the last six years pretending to be a monkey, a pig, an elephant, a fish, a lion, a dog, a cat and a bear. And even an occasional monster. But never has either of our girls ever requested that we pretend to be a crocodile. The funny thing is…we actually don’t know what sound a crocodile makes.

Do you? Be bold and join the conversation by sharing what sound your crocodile makes on Facebook and Instagram.

ILLUSTRATOR,
LISA TELLING KATTENBRAKER

Most importantly you should know that Lisa is not an illustrator, she’s a Batik artist who creates original pieces using locally harvested beeswax and fiber-reactive dyes on cotton fabric. Her emotion-filled tapestries help to add depth to this book’s catchy rhythm and simple word choice. First, enjoy the book as if Lisa was merely the illustrator. Then, give the book a second pass, and this time, let the images in Lisa’s beautiful Batik pieces connect with your own story, sparking conversation and connection.
